Round Ribbed Acrylic Wall Light with an Integrated LED

A wall light that projects only 3.2 inches solves a problem most sconces create. In a hallway, beside a bed or along a stairwell, anything that sticks out further is something a shoulder finds in the dark. A shallow disc gives you light on the wall without narrowing the space, which is why this shape keeps appearing in apartments and narrow houses.

Using them singly or in a group

One light at 5.3 inches across is a small object on a wall, so a single fitting works best where it has a job to do, beside a bed or over a specific spot. On a long blank wall it can look lost.

Groups are where this design works hardest. Three or four in a row, or spaced in a grid, turn a plain wall into a composition and give even light along its whole length. The photographs show both approaches, and the multiple arrangements are noticeably stronger than the single ones. Spacing matters when you group them. Roughly two to three times the fitting diameter between centers keeps the pools of light overlapping without the discs crowding each other on the wall.

How the ribbed diffuser changes the light

A flat frosted disc lights evenly and looks like a panel. Ribbing the surface gives the diffuser a set of small highlights and shadows, so the fitting stays interesting even when it is switched off and reads as a textured object rather than a plastic cover.

The frosting also means no visible LED dots and no glare from any angle. Combined with the integrated driver, that makes it comfortable at eye level, which is where wall lights usually end up in a hallway or beside a mirror. It also hides dust and fingerprints better than a flat gloss face, which is worth something on a fitting mounted at hand height beside a bed or a door.

One thing to confirm before a bathroom install

Two of the supplier photographs show this fitting in a bathroom, flanking a mirror and above a vanity, and the supplier copy describes it as suitable for indoor and outdoor use. However, the specification does not state an IP rating anywhere.

Without a stated IP rating we cannot recommend it for a bathroom zone or an outdoor position, and we would rather say so than repeat the supplier's claim. Treat it as an indoor, dry-location fitting for hallways, bedrooms and living rooms unless you can confirm a rating with us first. It is hardwired with an integrated driver, so installation needs an electrician, and the LED module is not replaceable.
