Waterproof IP66 Outdoor LED Wall Light for Porch and Garden

Outside lighting fails in two ways. It lets water in, or it lights a tiny circle and leaves the rest of the path dark. This fixture is built against both. The IP66 rating covers powerful jets of water, not just a shower. The 120 degree spread means one light covers a doorway instead of picking out the doormat and nothing else.

What the IP66 Rating and 120 Degree Beam Mean Outdoors

IP66 has two parts. The first 6 means dust cannot get in at all. The second 6 means powerful jets of water cannot either.

In practice that covers driving rain, a hose and a storm. It is a sensible rating for a wall that has no porch over it.

The 120 degree beam is wide. Light leaves the fixture in a broad fan rather than a narrow cone.

One unit beside a door lights the door, the step and a good stretch either side. Two on a long wall will overlap rather than leave dark gaps.

The body is aluminium, which sheds heat and does not rust the way steel does.

Choosing Between the Four Body Shapes

The flat slab is a plain rectangle that sits close to the wall. It is 10.2 in wide and 4.9 in high, and throws light forward and down.

The curved wedge is the same width but deeper at 3.9 in, with a rounded front. It aims more of its light downward.

The upright panel turns the rectangle on end at 4.9 in wide and 10.2 in high. It suits a narrow pier or a gate post.

The framed lantern is the most traditional. At 4.3 in wide and 10.2 in high it has visible frame bars and throws light both up and down the wall.

All four share the same rating, beam angle and mounting. The choice is about how the fixture looks and which way you want the light thrown.

Motion Sensing, Colour Temperature and Wiring

Sensor versions use radar rather than heat. Radar is less bothered by cold air, which matters in winter when a heat sensor can miss you.

Detection runs from about 9.8 ft out to 19.7 ft. After movement stops, the light holds for 30 to 45 seconds and then drops out.

You can also order any shape without a sensor. Those run from your normal switch.

Warm 3000K light is softer and suits a house frontage. White 6000K is brighter and reads as a security light.

The fixture accepts AC 85-265V, so it runs on a standard 120V supply. It is hardwired, so it needs an outdoor-rated point behind it.
