The adjustment range runs from 12 inches to 70 inches, which is unusually wide and covers most rooms without modification. Over a kitchen island, aim for 30 to 36 inches between the countertop and the bottom of the shade. Over a dining table, 28 to 34 inches above the tabletop is the usual range.

For a cluster of three above an island, space them evenly along the length and keep all three at the same height unless the ceiling is sloped. The photography shows both a row of three and a staggered cluster, and the even row is the easier of the two to get right.

Bulb Choice With A Clear Shade

The fixture is listed as LED compatible and no bulb is supplied. With a clear fluted shade the bulb is fully visible, so this is one of the cases where a decorative filament bulb is worth paying for. A vintage style LED filament in a warm colour temperature gives the mid century look without the heat or the running cost of a real incandescent.

Avoid a bright cool white bulb here. Behind clear glass there is nothing to soften it, and a cool temperature will fight the warm brass collar. Anything around 2700 kelvin will sit better with the finish and give the glass a warmer cast.

Clear glass also shows dust and fingerprints far more readily than an opaque shade. The flutes make that slightly worse, since dust settles in the grooves. A soft dry cloth run down the length of the ridges rather than across them keeps the shade clear without leaving lint behind in the flutes.
