One Body, Four Different Lights

The frame does not change. A round backplate, a short arm and a ridged socket, all in bronze. What changes is what sits on top of the bulb, and each option gives a different light. The cone is clear glass and narrows downward, so it aims the light at the floor or the page. The globe is clear glass and open at the bottom, so light goes down and also out through the sides.

The disc is not glass at all. It is a flat metal plate above the bulb, which blocks the light going up and sends the rest down and out. It is the most directional of the four and the only one that hides nothing of the bulb. The fourth option is no shade: just the socket and whatever bulb you screw into it.

Sizes and Where Each One Suits

The bare socket version is the smallest at 5 in wide and 10 in high. The cone is 6.5 in wide and 10 in high. The globe and the disc are both 7 in wide and 11 in high. None of them is large, so a pair either side of a bed will not crowd the headboard.

The cone is the one to pick for reading, because it aims light down onto the book rather than across the room. The globe suits a hallway or a landing, where you want some light on the walls as well as the floor. The disc works over a console or a bar cart. The bare socket suits a room where you already have a filament bulb you like.

Fitting and Bulbs

This is a hardwired indoor fixture. It mounts to a standard wall box behind the round plate, with no cord and no plug, so the wiring has to be there before the sconce goes up. Voltage is listed as 110V-120V and 220V-240V, which covers US mains.

The base is E26 and no bulb is included. LED, incandescent and fluorescent all fit. A clear globe filament bulb is what the photos show and it suits the clear glass shades, since you can see the bulb through all of them. Beside a bed, a frosted bulb is the kinder choice, and it makes no difference to the fitting.
