Brass Wall Sconce with a Rounded Glass Shade
This sconce holds a rounded glass shade on a short brass arm. Choose clear ribbed glass, white opal, green or smoky grey. The clear shade shows the bulb and throws a warm sparkle. The white one hides it for a softer look. The fixture stands 6.3 inches tall and reaches 5.1 inches out from the wall. That is small enough for a hallway where a wider light would catch your shoulder. It takes one E14 bulb, which you supply yourself.

A blank wall in a hallway is hard to light. A ceiling fixture leaves the wall flat and lights the floor. A tall lamp needs floor space you may not have. A small sconce fixes both problems. It sits on the wall itself and throws light across it. This one reaches just 5.1 inches out, so you can walk past without catching your shoulder on it.
Picking a Shade Colour
The four shades change the light more than they change the look. Clear ribbed glass lets the bulb show through. The ribs break the light into bright lines, so the shade sparkles. Pick a decorative filament bulb for this one, because you will see it.
White opal glass is the opposite. It hides the bulb and spreads a soft, even glow. Choose it for a bedside, where a visible filament can be too bright when you are lying down.
Green and smoky grey sit in between. Both are tinted and see through. They tone the light down and read as colour on the wall when the lamp is off. The green is deep enough to look near black in a dim room.
Size and Where It Fits
The whole fixture is 6.3 inches tall and 5.1 inches deep. The round backplate is 3.9 inches across. That is a small footprint, so a pair will not crowd a narrow hallway.
Mount it beside a bed at about 48 inches off the floor. That puts the light near your shoulder when you sit up to read. For a hallway, 60 to 66 inches works better.
A pair either side of a bed frees up both nightstands. In a hallway, space them about six feet apart so the pools of light meet on the wall. Above a mirror they work too, though the shade is rounded rather than aimed, so it lights the room as much as your face.
Bulbs and Fitting
The lamp holder takes an E14 small screw bulb. No bulb is supplied, so order one with the light. Any LED bulb with an E14 base will work.
Warm white around 2700K suits the clear and the smoky shades. It keeps the brass looking warm rather than grey. The white opal shade takes a brighter bulb well, because the glass does the softening for you.
The fixture wires into the wall supply and hangs on the round backplate. Wipe the brass with a dry cloth only. Polish and metal cleaner will strip the finish.
The glass shade lifts off its holder, so you can reach the bulb without taking the sconce off the wall. Handle the green and smoky shades carefully. Tinted glass shows smears more than clear glass does.
