Linear Pendant Light Zigzag LED Bar Aluminium Dimmable Fixture

A straight linear pendant is a solved problem and there are hundreds of them. Folding the same bar into a zigzag changes two things at once. Visually it becomes a drawn line with movement in it rather than a horizontal slab. Practically, the angled segments send light in several directions instead of one, which softens the hard downward pool a straight bar produces over a table.

Hanging a Linear Pendant Over a Table

The usual guidance is 30 to 36 inches between the underside of the pendant and the table top. Higher than that and the light spreads too thin to define the setting. Lower and it blocks the sightline across the table, which matters more with a long fixture than a compact one because it obstructs the full width.

Length should relate to the table, not the room. A rough rule is a fixture around half to two thirds of the table length. That puts the 17.7 inch version on a small round or square table and the 35.4 inch version over a six seater. A 47.2 inch adjustable wire is supplied, which covers standard and slightly raised ceilings.

Why the Folded Profile Changes the Light

Each angled section faces a slightly different way, so the output leaves the fixture across a range of directions rather than one. Over a dining table that means fewer hard shadows on plates and faces, and a gentler gradient out to the edges of the table instead of a bright centre and dark corners.

It also changes how the fixture looks from a seat. A straight bar seen end-on is a thin line and seen side-on is a slab. The zigzag reads differently from every position in the room, which is a real advantage in an open plan space where the pendant is visible from the kitchen, the table and the sofa at the same time.

Dimming, Output and Choosing a Finish

Dimming is close to essential on a dining pendant, because the same fixture has to serve a working breakfast and a long evening meal. At full output the 26 watt version is genuinely bright over a table. Wound down it becomes the only light the room needs after dark, with everything else switched off.

The finishes behave quite differently. Black narrows the profile visually and lets the lit line do all the work, which suits a modern or industrial room. Gold catches ambient light along the folded faces even when the fixture is off, so it stays present as an object. Warm white at 3000K suits dining, while cool white at 6000K is better over a work bench.
