Stay within the 6 to 10 watt range and use LED. This matters more on a paper lamp than a glass one, because paper sits close to the bulb and an incandescent or halogen lamp of equivalent brightness runs far hotter. An LED at this wattage stays cool enough that the shade is never at risk.

Paper needs a little care. Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, never a damp cloth, and keep it away from open windows where rain can reach it. Handled sensibly it lasts for years, and at 2.2 pounds it is light enough to move room to room, though that also means it is easily knocked.
