Think about where it spends its daytime hours rather than its night ones. Switched off it is simply an object on a shelf, and the base is the only part of it you really see. Against dark wood the beige lifts; against white or grey walls the green gives the shelf something to look at. Both carry the same brass coloured knob and the same clear dome.
