Motion Sensor Wall Light in a Cordless Solid Wood Sconce

Hunting for a switch in a dark hallway is a small daily annoyance. This light removes it. A sensor on the front sees you coming and turns the light on before you arrive. Fifteen seconds after you have passed it turns itself off again. There is no wiring and no drilling. A magnetic disc sticks to the wall and the light snaps onto it, which means you can move it whenever you like.

How the Sensor Behaves

The sensor sits in the middle of the front face. It reads both movement and the light level in the room.

It picks up a person from 6.6 to 9.8 ft directly ahead, and across a 120 degree spread out to 13.1 ft.

Once triggered, the light stays on while you are near it. It switches off fifteen seconds after the last movement.

Because it also reads ambient light, it stays off during the day. Battery only goes on the times you actually need it.

Fifteen seconds is short enough to save power and long enough to cross a landing. It restarts every time it sees movement, so it will not switch off while you are standing under it.

No Wires and No Drilling

A magnetic disc mounts on the wall with an adhesive pad. The light holds to that disc.

There is no hole to drill and no wire to run. In a rented flat that matters, because nothing is left behind.

The light lifts straight off for charging. A USB-C cable runs from a wall adapter, a laptop or a power bank.

It also turns a full 360 degrees on the disc. Rotate it to change which way the two cones of light point.

The adhesive pad holds on painted plaster, tile and sealed wood. It does not hold on textured wallpaper or bare brick. Check the surface before you commit to a spot.

Battery Life and Wood Finishes

Run continuously, a charge lasts about 8 hours. That is the figure for permanent on rather than normal use.

In sensor mode the light only runs in short bursts. A charge then lasts between one and three months.

Two finishes are offered. The dark version is a deep walnut tone. The light version is a pale natural wood.

Both are small at 2.2 in wide. On a stair wall or beside a bed they read as a small wood block rather than a fitting.

Because it comes off the wall in one movement, it also works as a torch. Lift it off, carry it, and put it back on the disc afterwards.
