Modern Linear Wall Sconce in a Slim Folded LED Bar

A wall light with a shade is an object on your wall. A slim bar is closer to a line drawn on it. This one is a single folded piece of metal, 1.2 in deep, with the LED tucked inside the fold. Light escapes along the top and bottom edges and spreads onto the wall. What you see is two soft bands of glow with a dark bar between them. It is the quietest way to light a wall.

How the Folded Bar Spreads Light

The metal is folded back on itself. The LED sits in the channel that fold creates.

A narrow slot runs along the top edge and another along the bottom. All the light leaves through those two slots.

It hits the wall close to the fixture and fades outward. That gives a soft band above and below rather than a beam into the room.

Because the diodes are hidden inside the fold, there is no glare from any angle. You can mount this at eye level beside a mirror.

The bar has no visible fixings once it is up. It fits to a bracket and the body covers it. That is what lets it read as a clean line rather than as a mounted object.

Picking a Length

The 5.5 in bar is small. Use it as an accent, or in pairs flanking a picture or a doorway.

The 9.4 in bar suits a bedside wall. Mounted above a nightstand it lights the surface and the wall behind it.

The 16.1 in and 20 in bars are the ones for a bathroom mirror. Mounted vertically down each side, they light a face evenly with no shadow under the chin.

In a corridor, mount the longer bars horizontally at chest height. Two or three spaced along the wall carry the whole run.

Finishes and Fitting

Black gives the strongest contrast. Against a pale wall you see a dark line with a glow above and below it.

Brushed silver picks up the light itself and reads softer. It suits a bathroom or a kitchen with other metal in the room.

White almost disappears. On a white wall, all you see is the light and not the fixture.

The bar is 1.2 in deep and fixes flat to the wall. It is light at 1.8 lb, so a standard fixing carries it easily.

Mounted vertically the same bar lights a face rather than a wall. Beside a mirror that is the useful orientation. Mounted horizontally above a mirror it lights the top of a head and leaves the face in shadow.
