Modern Wall Sconce with an Open Ring and a Downward Spot
An open ring stands proud of the wall. Inside it hangs a short cylinder that aims light straight down. The ring itself carries no light, so it reads as a drawn circle against the wall. The fixture is 13 in high and 11 in wide, with a 4.3 in cylinder. Three finishes are offered: all black, all gold, or a black ring holding a gold cylinder. You can buy a single sconce or a matched set for a longer wall.

Most sconces are a shade on a bracket. This one is a shape first. The ring does no work at all, which is the point of it. It frames the cylinder and draws a clean circle on the wall, and the cylinder does the lighting. Off, it still reads as something deliberate. That matters on a wall you look at all day.
What the Open Ring and Cylinder Spot Actually Do
The cylinder is the light. It points down and throws a defined pool below the fixture.
Light does not spill upward or sideways. On a plain wall you get a bright cone under the sconce and a soft edge around it.
The ring is purely a frame. It catches a little of the light on its inner curve, which makes the circle read even at night.
It is a task light rather than a room light. One sconce will not brighten a whole bedroom.
Used beside a bed or a mirror, that is the point. The light lands where you need it and the rest of the room stays dim.
That combination gives you a sconce that is decorative when off and directional when on.
Picking a Finish for Your Wall
All gold reads warm and soft. Against a dark wall it stands out as a bright line.
All black almost disappears against pale plaster until it is switched on. Against a dark wall it reads as a silhouette.
The mixed option puts a black ring around a gold cylinder. The eye goes to the lit part rather than the frame.
The gold is a warm brushed tone rather than a bright polish, so it does not throw hard reflections.
Whichever you choose, the finish covers both the ring and the round wall plate.
Sizing, Placing and Buying in Sets
At 13 in high and 11 in wide this is a mid-sized sconce. It reads clearly without dominating a narrow wall.
Beside a bed, mount it so the cylinder sits a little above shoulder height when you are sitting up. The pool of light then lands on the page.
In a hallway, space a run of them evenly and let the pools overlap slightly at the floor.
The fixture weighs 2.2 lb, so a standard fixing holds it.
Above a vanity, mount two either side of the mirror rather than one above it. Side light is kinder on a face than top light.
