Modern Wall Sconce with a Cone Shade and Brass Arm
This modern wall sconce hangs a metal cone shade from a slim brass arm. The arm rises from the backplate, curves over like a hook, and drops the shade in front of it. A brass band wraps the shade where the arm meets it. The cone points down, so the light lands below rather than spreading across the room. It stands 14.6 in tall and 5.5 in wide and reaches 7.9 in out from the wall. It takes an E27 lamp.

The hook arm is the detail worth noticing. Rather than bolting the shade to the wall, the arm loops over and lets the cone hang from it. That reads as something suspended rather than something fixed, which is why this shape turns up in restaurants and bars. The brass band around the shade repeats the arm and ties the two parts together. The cone itself is plain metal in one of three colours.
What a Cone Shade Does to the Light
A cone is narrow at the top and open at the bottom. All the light leaves downward.
That gives a defined pool below the sconce rather than a wash up the wall.
It is closer to a spotlight than to ambient light.
Over a table or a banquette that is exactly right. It lights the surface and the people at it.
As a corridor light it is less useful. The pools sit apart and leave gaps between them.

The blue is a deep, flat colour. Against brass it reads as the dressiest of the three.
White keeps the fixture light and lets the brass line stand out most.
Black makes the shade recede, so you mainly see the brass hook and the light below it.
Pick by the wall behind it. Black on a dark wall nearly disappears.
The brass is the same on all three shade colours, so it is a fixed element.
That means the shade colour is really a choice about the wall behind it.
White reads lightest and shows the brass most clearly.
Blue is the strongest colour and carries the most character.
Size, Reach and Fitting
The sconce is 14.6 in tall, which is a fair size for a wall light.
It reaches 7.9 in out from the wall, so allow for it in a narrow space.
The backplate is small at around 4.7 in across.
It is hardwired and needs a wall box behind the backplate.
