Bauhaus design built objects out of plain shapes. A circle, a cylinder, a sphere, and nothing added for decoration. This lamp is that idea in miniature. Two rounded forms stack up, a globe sits on them, and the whole thing is one colour. There is no shade seam and no trim. What you see is the shape and the light.

The Stacked Shapes Behind This Mid Century Table Lamp

The base is built from rounded solids of different sizes. The widest sits on the table and they narrow going up.

That taper does real work. It puts the weight low, so a small lamp does not tip when the cable is pulled.

The globe on top is white glass. It hides the bulb completely, so you never see a filament or a hot spot.

The globe is the only part that lights up. The base stays its own colour, so the lamp keeps its shape after dark.

Light leaves the globe evenly in every direction. That gives soft general light rather than a task beam.

Picking a Colourway for the Room

The orange version pairs a deep orange base with a yellow band. It is the boldest of the three and reads warm even unlit.

The blue version runs from a deep blue base to a paler blue above. It is cooler and quieter on a dark wood surface.

The grey version is the most restrained. Against a white or pink wall it reads almost as a sculpture.

The finish is glossy on all three. It picks up a highlight from the window during the day.

All three use the same white globe, so the light is identical whichever base you choose.

Size, Bulb and Where to Stand It

At 8.7 in high this is a small lamp. It sits below eye level on most bedside tables, which keeps the globe out of your line of sight.

The footprint is 4.7 in across. It leaves room on a nightstand for a book and a glass.

A warm white bulb is supplied with the lamp, so it works out of the box.

The socket is an E27 screw fitting. That is the European size, slightly larger than the E26 sold in most US shops, so check the base before buying a replacement.

Keep it away from the edge of a table. The base is small and the globe sits high, so a knock will move it.

Two of these read well as a pair, one at each end of a sideboard. Mixing two colourways works better here than matching.
