Against a dark or navy wall the black almost disappears until it is switched on. Then you see only the light.

The brushed gold is warmer and softer. It catches daylight during the day and glows alongside the light at night.

Gold suits a warm scheme with wood or brass already in it. Black suits a cooler, more graphic room.

The square centre block carries the same finish as the bars, so the fixture reads as one piece.

Where to Put It and How It Fits

This is a vertical fixture, so it wants a tall stretch of wall. Beside a bed, either side of a mirror, or on a narrow pier between windows.

Mounted in a pair on a bedroom wall, the two verticals frame the bed without needing a headboard light.

It is a poor fit for a short wall above a sofa, where a horizontal fitting reads better.

The fixture is wall mounted and weighs 5.5 lb. That is heavier than most sconces, so fix it into something solid rather than plasterboard alone.

It suits a bedroom, a living room, a dining room or an entryway. It is an indoor fitting with no moisture rating.

Mount it so the centre block sits at roughly eye height. That balances the lit length above and below.
