Wall sconces earn their place where a lamp cannot go. A hallway has no side table, a stairwell has no floor space, and a ceiling fixture in either one drops light straight down and leaves the walls flat. A run of up and down sconces does the opposite. The 7 in size puts out a broader wash and works better on its own, flanking a mirror, a doorway or a bed. The fixture is also rated for outdoor use, so the same design carries onto a porch, a garden wall or either side of a front door.

The Light Itself, and the Three Color Temperatures

Light leaves through slots at the top and bottom edges, so you get two beams rather than one diffuse glow. Close to the wall each beam spreads into a soft triangle, and the wall finish decides how that looks. Plaster and matte paint scatter it gently, while concrete and textured render catch the grazing angle and show their texture.

Three color temperatures are offered: warm, natural and white. Warm suits bedrooms, hallways and anywhere the sconce is on late in the evening. White reads cleaner and holds up better outdoors and in entryways, where it sits closer to daylight. Natural falls between the two. The temperature is fixed per unit rather than switchable, so it is worth matching it to the other fittings in the same run.

Wiring, Fitting and What Arrives

This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in one. It connects to mains wiring at the wall box behind the backplate, so it needs a supply point where you intend to hang it and, in most cases, an electrician to make the connection. The trade-off is a clean wall with no visible cord, which is the whole point of a sconce in a corridor.

The LED array is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy, fit or replace later. The supplier rates it at 39 W and under, and the fixture accepts both 110V-120V and 220V-240V supply. At 1.5 lb it is light enough for standard wall fixings in plaster or masonry.
