Glass Pendant Light for a Kitchen Island
This pendant hangs a glass shade from a brass finish holder. The glass comes clear, amber or smoke. Four shade shapes are on offer. A dome is 9.8 in across. A globe is 7.9 in. A cone is 7.1 in. A bell is 5.5 in. Every shade takes a standard E27 bulb, which you supply. The glass is see through, so the bulb is part of the look. A glass pendant is really two decisions. You pick the shape of the shade. Then you pick how much the glass hides the bulb. This one lets you do both. Four shapes run from a wide dome down to a small bell. Three tints run from fully clear to smoked grey. The brass finish holder is the same on all twelve.
Picking the Shade Shape

It throws light down and out, so it covers a wide patch of bench.

Clear, Amber or Smoke Glass
Clear glass hides nothing. The bulb is the whole design.
Amber warms the light and softens the filament behind it.
Smoke is the darkest. It cuts glare and mutes the bulb to a glow.
In a bright kitchen, smoke stops the lamp being harsh at eye level.
In a dim dining room, clear gives you the most light for the same bulb.
Amber sits between the two and suits warm timber and brick.
All three tints use the same fitting and the same shade shapes.
The tint does not change the bulb you need.
Smoke glass is darkest at the top of the shade and clears towards the rim.
That gradient is part of the look and is not a fault.
Amber and smoke both cut the output slightly compared with clear.
Fitting the Pendant
It is hardwired, so plan for a ceiling rose.
It takes an E27 lamp, which is the standard screw base.
No bulb is supplied. That is normal for a shade like this.
Pick the lamp for the look as much as for the light.
A clear shade with a plain frosted bulb looks unfinished.
Over an island, hang the base about 30 to 36 in above the bench.
Over a table you can go lower, because nobody walks under it.
At 4.2 lb it is light enough for a standard ceiling rose.
