Opal Glass Globe Pendant Light on a Slim Brass Rod

A globe pendant usually hangs one sphere and stops. This one stacks them on a rod, so the fixture has height as well as width. That changes where it works. A single globe suits a bedside. How Opal Glass Globes Spread the Light

Opal glass is white all the way through rather than coated. Light passes through it and comes out even.

That means no bright spot and no visible filament from any angle. You can look straight at it.

Each globe lights the space around it in every direction. Stack several and you get a soft column of light rather than one pool.

The brass rod stays visible between the globes. Lit from beside, it reads as a warm line linking them.

Against a dark wall the globes read as separate spheres. Against a pale wall they blend into one shape.

Choosing One, Two, Three or Four Globes

The single globe version is 14.2 in long. It suits a bedside or a run over a narrow counter.

Two globes come to 19.3 in. This is the most usable length for a dining table or a hallway.

Three globes reach 28.7 in and four reach 33.5 in. Both need real height above them to look right.

In a room with a standard ceiling, three or four globes will hang low. Reserve them for stairwells, double height spaces or a corner where nobody walks.

Hung in a group at mixed lengths, the different sizes read as one composition rather than a set.

Fitting, Wire Length and Rooms

The fixture is hardwired to a ceiling point. There is no plug and no inline switch.

The suspension wire is 78.7 in, which is 6.5 ft. You shorten it on fitting to set the drop.

Work out your drop before you cut. Over a dining table, leave roughly 30 in between the table and the lowest globe.

The whole fixture weighs 4.5 lb. That is within what a standard ceiling rose will take.

The globes are fixed to the rod rather than removable, so handle the fixture by the rod when you fit it.

Opal glass shows dust more than clear glass. A dry cloth every few weeks keeps the white looking white.
