Bathroom Vanity Light Fixtures in Chrome and Opal Glass
This chrome sconce puts light where you need it at the mirror. The opal glass shade spreads the light evenly, so it does not glare back at you. Pick the single shade or the twin. The single is 7.5 inches wide. The twin is 11.8 inches. Both stand 7.1 inches tall on the same wall plate. Each shade takes an E27 bulb, and LED bulbs come in the box. Polished chrome wipes clean with a dry cloth, which matters on a wall above a basin.

A vanity light has one job. It should light your face evenly at the mirror. A bare bulb overhead throws hard shadows under your eyes and chin. That is the worst light for shaving or for putting on makeup. This fixture puts a frosted opal shade in front of the bulb. The shade spreads the light before it reaches you. You get a soft, even wash instead of one hot spot.
Where to Mount a Vanity Light
Two placements work well here. The first is one sconce on each side of the mirror. Mount them at about eye level, roughly 66 inches off the floor. Side light reaches both sides of your face at once. That is why it beats anything mounted overhead.
The second is a twin fixture centred above the mirror. This suits a narrow wall where two sconces will not fit. Mount it about 78 inches off the floor. The light falls from above, so expect a little more shadow under the chin.
The single shade measures 7.5 inches wide and 7.1 inches tall. The twin measures 11.8 inches wide at the same height. Both use the same wall plate, so the fixing holes do not change if you switch between them.
What the Opal Glass Does
The shade is a white glass cylinder. Light passes through the glass instead of straight out of the bulb. That is what makes the glow even from the top of the shade to the bottom.
Clear glass would show the filament and throw a bright spot onto the wall. Opal glass hides the bulb. You see a lit shade rather than a lamp, and the wall beside it stays evenly lit.
The shade points down as well as up. Some light washes the wall above, and the rest falls onto the basin below.
Opal glass also hides the shape of the bulb. A bare LED lamp can look cheap through clear glass. Here you never see it, so the fixture looks the same whichever bulb is in it.
Bulbs, Wiring and Care
Each shade takes one E27 screw bulb. LED bulbs are supplied, so the fixture lights up out of the box. You can swap them later for any E27 bulb you like.
The fixture wires into your wall supply, so it is not a plug in light. It carries a CCC mark. No damp or wet rating is stated by the supplier, so mount it clear of direct spray from a shower or bath.
Polished chrome shows fingerprints and water spots. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth. Skip abrasive creams and scouring pads, because they will dull the finish for good.
