Ceiling Spot Light with a 360 Degree Rotating Head
This ceiling spot light puts the light where the room needs it rather than where the wiring happens to sit. A die-cast aluminium head turns a full 360 degrees on its base and folds through 90 degrees, so one fixture can wash a gallery wall, pick out a shelf, or drop a pool of light onto a reading chair. The body is 3.9 inches across and mounts flat to a ceiling or a wall. Choose black or white, and 5W, 7W, 12W or 18W in warm, neutral or cool white.

A recessed downlight lights the floor under it and nothing else. A track head lights whatever you aim it at, but you have to hang a track first. This fixture sits between the two: it mounts flat to the surface like a downlight, then turns and tilts like a track head. One of them handles a single picture. Four across a ceiling, each aimed somewhere different, does the work of a whole lighting scheme.
Aiming a Directional Ceiling Light at Artwork
The head rotates a full circle on the base and folds through 90 degrees, which between them reach almost anything below or beside the fixture. For a picture, the usual starting point is to mount the light roughly a third of the room depth back from the wall and tilt it about 30 degrees off vertical. That angle throws light across the surface without bouncing the beam straight back at anyone standing in front of it.
Steeper angles narrow the pool and raise the contrast, which suits a single framed piece. Shallower angles spread the light wider and flatten it, which suits a run of shelves or a long wall. Because the adjustment is mechanical rather than fixed at manufacture, you can hang the art first and set the angle afterwards.
Choosing the Wattage and Colour Temperature
The same fixture is offered at 5W, 7W, 12W and 18W. Accent work on a picture or a shelf rarely needs more than 7W, because the point is to lift one surface above the ambient level rather than to light the room. The 12W and 18W versions are for larger jobs, a kitchen counter or a wide hallway, where the fixture is doing general lighting rather than accenting.
Colour temperature changes how the light reads more than its brightness does. The 3000K warm white keeps skin tones and timber looking natural and suits living rooms and bedrooms. The 4000K neutral is a middle setting for kitchens and workspaces. The 6000K cool white is a daylight tone, useful in a studio but harsh in a lounge. A 3000K triac dimming version is there if you want to run the level down in the evening.
Surface Mounting and the US Junction Box Warning
This point needs stating clearly before you order. The canopy on this fixture is compact and is not compatible with a standard US junction box. If your ceiling already has a box in place, the fixture will not simply screw onto it. Confirm your installation with a qualified electrician before buying, and expect the job to involve either a different mounting arrangement or a surface run rather than a straight swap.
Beyond that, installation is a normal hardwired job. The fixture sits flat against the ceiling or the wall with no recess cut, which makes it a realistic option in a concrete ceiling or anywhere there is no void above to hide a recessed can. Mounted on a wall the same head tilts up, sideways or down, so it works as a stairwell accent or a reading light beside a chair.
