The single pendant is the flexible option. Hung on its own it suits a bedside, a hallway or a corner. Bought two or three times over, it lets you set your own spacing along a counter, which is the only way to get the layout exactly right on a long island.

The 19.7 inch three-light bar solves a different problem. It runs all three shades from one ceiling point, so there is a single wiring job and the spacing is fixed and even. The round cluster gathers the three shades into a 9.8 inch group, which suits a round table or an entry where a straight line would look wrong.

How faceted glass changes the light

The shade is not a diffuser. The glass bars are cut with flat faces, so instead of softening the bulb they split it, and what lands on the ceiling and walls is a set of narrow bright lines rather than an even wash. In a dim room that is the effect people buy this for.

It also means the fixture looks different depending on the bulb. A clear lamp with a visible filament gives the sharpest, most defined highlights. A frosted or opal lamp mutes them into a softer shimmer. Neither is wrong, but decide which you want before you buy, because it changes the character completely.

Hanging height, bulbs and installation

Over a kitchen counter, leave roughly 30 to 36 inches between the surface and the bottom of the shade. Because the fitting is small and the glass is clear, hanging it too low puts a bright bulb directly in the eyeline of anyone sitting at the bench, which is the most common mistake with this style.

It takes standard E26 or E27 screw bulbs, not included, and there is no dimmer built in, so dimming means a dimmable lamp on a compatible switch. The pendant is hardwired to a ceiling point. Dust the glass with a soft dry cloth, since faceted surfaces show fingerprints and dust far more readily than a plain shade.
