Gold Wall Sconce Cylinder Tube Up Down LED

A blank wall is hard to furnish and easy to light. This sconce is a plain gold tube open at both ends. Switch it on and it draws two bright cones on the wall, one rising and one falling, with the tube itself as a gold line between them. That pattern is the decoration. You do not need anything else on the wall.

The Two Cones of Light

Light leaves the open top and the open bottom of the tube.

Each beam starts narrow and widens as it travels along the wall.

You get an hourglass of light with the fixture at the waist.

The effect depends on the wall, so give it room above and below.

Under a shelf or a ceiling the upper cone has nowhere to go.

On textured plaster or brick the beam edges pick out the surface.

On flat paint you get a clean gradient instead.

Mount it about 60 in off the floor for a balanced pair of cones.

Two spaced along a wall reads better than one placed centrally.

Corners are the one place this does not work, because one cone hits the return wall.

Keep at least 12 in of clear wall to each side.

A stairwell wall is ideal, because the beams have somewhere to run.

Width and Length Together

The 2.4 in tube is the slimmest and takes a 3W LED.

The 3.1 in takes 5W and the 3.9 in takes 7W.

So a wider tube is also a brighter one.

The 11.8 in length suits a bedside or a narrow stretch of wall.

The 19.7 in length is a feature and needs a tall clear wall.

A long slim tube looks elegant. A short wide one looks stubby.

Pair the 2.4 in width with the 19.7 in length for the cleanest line.

Pair the 3.9 in width with the shorter body if you want output.

Two different lengths on one wall can work if they are aligned at the top.

Aligned at the centre they just look mismatched.

The same width in two lengths is the safest pairing.

Gold Finish and Light Colour

Every version is the same brushed gold, so it is safe to mix lengths.

Gold holds its colour on the wall even when the light is off.

It suits deep greens, navy and dark timber particularly well.

Against white plaster it reads as jewellery rather than hardware.

Warm white light flatters the gold and keeps the room soft.

Cool white makes the metal look sharper and slightly greener.

Warm white is the safer choice in a bedroom or lounge.

The LED is integrated, so the colour is fixed when you order.

The supplier lists bulbs as included, which here means the integrated LED.

There is no lamp to replace, so the fixture is not serviceable.

It is a solid 2.6 lb, so use proper fixings rather than plasterboard plugs alone.
