Glass Globe Pendant Light with Textured Clear Shade

A plain glass globe shows you the bulb and little else. Patterned glass does more. It catches the light at every ridge and edge. The shade then sparkles instead of glaring. This pendant comes in four surfaces, so you can pick how much sparkle you want. All four use clear glass. The room still reads bright and open, and the fitting stays small enough to hang almost anywhere.

What the Four Glass Patterns Do

The leaf pattern is pressed into the glass as a fan of raised veins. It gives the softest light of the four. The faceted globe is cut into flat diamond panels instead. Those flat faces catch the bulb and flash as you walk past.

The two crackle finishes hold a web of fine lines inside the glass. Light scatters along every line. One is a full round sphere. The other is pressed flatter, so it sits wider than it is tall. Both give a warm, broken glow.

None of the four is frosted or coloured. The glass stays clear, so you will see the bulb through the pattern. A decorative filament bulb suits this fixture well for that reason.

The collar and the cord fitting carry a brass tone finish. It is warm rather than bright, so it sits against the clear glass without competing with it. That finish is the same across all four patterns. Only the glass itself changes between them.

Hanging a 6 in Clear Glass Globe

The shade is 6 in across and about 9 in tall with the collar. That is small for a pendant. One on its own works over a bedside table or in a hallway.

Over a kitchen island, hang two or three in a row. Space them roughly 24 in apart. The narrow shade means they will not crowd each other, even above a small counter.

The cord drops 59 in from the ceiling and shortens at the canopy. Over a dining table, leave about 30 in between the table top and the bottom of the shade.

Bulbs and Wiring for This Ceiling Light

The socket takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb. No bulb is included, so order one alongside the light. LED, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs all fit.

The fixture is hardwired to a round ceiling canopy. There is no plug and no inline switch, so it needs a ceiling point. It runs on 110V-120V and on 220V-240V, which covers US household wiring.

Because the glass is clear, the bulb is part of the look. A warm filament bulb reads best through the pattern. A bare cool white bulb will look harsh behind it.
