Nordic Cone Pendant Light Metal Shade for Dining Tables

Shade angle decides almost everything about how a pendant behaves. A shallow shade spills light sideways and lifts the whole room. A steep one holds it in and drops it in a tight circle. Neither is better, but they are for different jobs. This cone is steep, so it is a table light rather than a room light. If it is the only fixture in the room, plan on lamps as well.

Two Sizes and What Each One Covers

The small one is 10 in across and 6.5 in high. It is the size for hanging two or three in a row over a bench or a long table, or one on its own over a small round table for two.

The large one is 12.5 in across and 9.5 in high. As a single fixture it covers a table for four to six comfortably. It is also the one to pick if the pendant needs to hold its own in a room with high ceilings. Both hang from the same 59 in cord and use the same matt finish.

The rim of the shade sits below the bulb, so from a normal seated height you do not see the source at all. That is a real advantage over a shallow shade at a dining table, where people sit for a long time facing the light.

Five Matt Colours

Black and white are the safe choices. Black frames the light and disappears into a dark ceiling. White is the least visible against a standard ceiling and lets the fixture read as a shape rather than an object.

Sage green, dusty blue and soft pink are the three muted colours. None of them is bright. They are chalky and low key, which is what lets them sit in a plain Scandinavian room without shouting. The inside of every shade is pale, so the light stays clean whichever outside colour you choose.

The Included Bulb and Hanging Height

An LED bulb comes with the fixture, which is unusual at this price. The socket is a standard E26 or E27, so you can swap it later for whatever you prefer. That is the advantage over a fixture with the LED built in permanently.

Hang the bottom of the shade 30 to 36 in above the table top. Because the cone is steep, going higher than that widens the circle quickly and loses the effect. The cord is 59 in and shortens at the canopy. The pendant is rated for 110V-120V as well as 220V-240V and weighs about 3.5 lb.
