Cast Aluminium Outdoor Wall Lamp
A bulkhead outdoor wall lamp cast from solid aluminium, with a heavy oval bezel clamped over a ribbed frosted lens. The shape comes straight off ships and dockside buildings, where a light had to survive weather and knocks without a cage around it. A gasket seals the lens to the body, and the casting resists the corrosion that finishes off pressed steel fittings near the coast. It mounts vertically or horizontally on the same fixing, takes an E26 or E27 bulb of your choosing, and comes in two sizes and seven finishes.

The bulkhead is one of very few light fittings designed for a job rather than a look. It had to sit on the outside of a ship, take spray and impact, and keep working. Everything about the shape follows from that - the low profile, the cast body, the thick lens held down by a bezel. It ended up on houses because the things that made it survive at sea also make it survive a back door.
Why Cast Aluminium Outlasts Outdoor Fittings
Most cheap exterior lights are pressed steel with paint over the top. Once that paint is chipped by a ladder or a wheelie bin the steel underneath starts rusting, and the rust then lifts more paint. Two seasons of that and the fitting is finished regardless of whether the electrics still work.
Cast aluminium does not have that failure mode. It forms its own oxide layer and simply does not rust, which is why it has been the standard for marine and coastal fittings for decades. A casting is also thick enough to take a knock without denting, and this one is the whole body rather than a shell over a plastic core.
The Ribbed Lens and the Weather Seal
The lens is frosted and ribbed rather than clear, and both properties do work. Frosting stops the bulb showing as a glare point when the fitting is at head height beside a door. The ribs spread the output sideways along the wall instead of letting it punch straight out, so the light lands as a wash rather than a beam in the face.
Behind the lens, a gasket seals it against the cast body. That seal is what keeps driven rain and insects out of the socket, and it is the part worth checking every couple of years. If a bulb change ever means disturbing the bezel, make sure the gasket seats properly again before tightening it back down.
Choosing a Size, a Finish and an Orientation
Two sizes are offered. The 8.3 inch is the one for flanking a door in pairs or running along a path wall where several fittings share the work. The 11 inch has enough presence to sit alone above a single entrance without looking undersized against the door frame.
The mounting allows either orientation on the same fixing, which is a genuinely useful option rather than a spec sheet line. Vertical suits a narrow pier or the strip of wall beside a door frame. Horizontal suits a broad expanse of brick or render where a vertical fitting would look stranded. Seven finishes are available, and the socket accepts a standard E26 or E27 bulb which is not supplied.
