Outdoor Wall Sconce with Up and Down LED Beams
A wall sconce that throws light in two directions at once, grazing the wall above and below the fixture instead of lighting only what stands in front of it. The face is die-cast aluminium pressed into a rippled, water-wave profile and finished in frosted lacquer, with glass diffusers top and bottom that soften the LED beads behind them. Rated IP54, it hardwires flat against the wall and suits covered patios, courtyards and entryways. Two, four and six light versions change how wide the beams spread across the surface.

An up and down sconce is chosen for the pattern it makes rather than the light it gives. Two openings send narrow beams along the wall in opposite directions, so the fixture itself stays visually small while the lit area extends well beyond it. On a large flat facade that reads as deliberate architecture rather than as a lamp bolted to the render.
How the Beam Count Changes the Effect
The two light version produces a single clean wedge above and below, which is the tightest and most formal of the three. It suits narrow piers and the spaces between windows where a wider spread would run into the opening and lose its shape.
The four and six light versions split the same output into multiple slots, giving a fanned, striped pattern instead of one solid wedge. That reads better across a broad expanse of wall and is the effect shown in the images where several beams overlap down a long facade.
Rippled Aluminium and the Frosted Finish
The face is pressed into a wave profile rather than left flat, so the fixture catches daylight and shows some depth when it is switched off. That matters more than it sounds: an outdoor sconce spends most of its life unlit, and a flat black box disappears into the wall as a dark smudge.
The frosted lacquer over die-cast aluminium is what handles the weather. Aluminium does not rust, and the lacquer takes the abrasion from wind driven grit. At 1.32 pounds the fixture is light enough for render, brick or timber cladding without a backing plate, and it will not stain the wall beneath it the way a corroding steel fitting eventually does.
IP54, Wiring and Where to Use It
IP54 covers dust and splashing water from any direction. That is a sensible rating for a wall mounted fixture under an eave, on a covered patio or on a sheltered facade. It is a lower rating than IP65 and is best kept out of positions that take the full force of driven rain, such as an exposed parapet.
The sconce is hardwired and accepts 85 to 265 volts, so the 120 volt supply here is well within range. Cool white and warm white are both offered; warm white is the easier match on brick and timber, cool white holds its crispness against pale render and glass. Multi packs are available so a repeated run down a facade keeps one finish and one colour temperature throughout, which is difficult to guarantee when fixtures are bought separately over time.
