Kitchen Island Pendant Light with a Wide Flared Shade
This pendant is all shade and almost no body. The metal flares out from a narrow neck into a broad, shallow cone. Because the metal is solid, none of the light escapes sideways. It all goes down onto the bench or the table below. The shade is only 7 in high but 16 in or 19 in across. That wide, low shape lights a big area without hanging in your face. It runs on a 39 in cord and takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb.

A kitchen island needs light on the surface, not light in the room. Those are two different jobs. A glass pendant spreads light everywhere and leaves the bench dim. A solid metal shade does the opposite. It blocks every direction except down. This one is 19 in across at its widest and only 7 in tall, so the pool of light it throws is wide enough to cover a chopping board and a bowl at the same time.
A Wide Flared Shade Over a Work Surface
The shade opens out from the neck in a smooth curve, then flattens near the rim. That flare is what spreads the light. A narrow cone would give you a tight circle. This one gives you a wide, even patch with soft edges.
The inside of the shade is pale. Light that hits the metal bounces back down instead of soaking in. You get more usable light from the same bulb.
It is a task light first. The room around it will still need something else, whether that is downlights or a lamp in the corner. Do not expect one of these to light a whole kitchen.
The metal is powder coated inside and out. It does not rust in a kitchen and it wipes clean with a damp cloth.
Choosing Between 16 in and 19 in
Both sizes are 7 in high. Only the width changes. The 16 in shade suits a single pendant over a small table or a run of two over a narrow bench.
The 19 in shade is the one for a full island. Hung on its own it covers most of a standard island. In a pair, space them about 36 in apart so the pools of light meet in the middle rather than overlapping.
Hang the bottom of the shade roughly 30 in to 36 in above the surface. Any lower and a wide shade starts to block the view across the room.
Check the width against the bench before you order. A 19 in shade on a 24 in wide island leaves very little room either side.
Colors, Cord and Wiring
The shade comes in eight colors, from plain black and white through to red, orange and yellow. The cord and cap stay black on all of them, which keeps the bright colors from looking scattered.
The cord is 39 in and can be shortened at the 4 in ceiling canopy. The fixture is hardwired, so there is no plug. The socket takes an E26 or E27 bulb and none is included. Rated voltage is 110V-120V and 220V-240V.
A warm white LED near 2700K suits the darker colors. The brighter shades can take a cooler bulb without looking harsh.
