Travertine Semi Flush Mount Ceiling Light Wood Scandinavian LED

Travertine is a limestone formed in mineral springs, and the small open pores across its surface are what give it away as the real thing. Lit from inside a fixture, those pores and the natural banding in the stone catch the light at different depths, so the shade never reads as a flat surface. It is the same quality that makes travertine work on a floor or a countertop, applied at a much smaller scale.

Three sizes are offered. Size A is 4.7 inches in diameter and 3.9 inches high, size B is narrower and taller at 4.3 inches by 6.3 inches, and size C is 4.7 inches by 4.7 inches. All three are small fittings, which is what makes them workable on a lower ceiling where a pendant would be in the way.

The collar comes in a natural wood tone, a darker walnut and a black finish. The photography shows the wood and black versions in place. Against a white ceiling the wood collar softens the join; the black collar does the opposite and draws a deliberate line between the ceiling and the stone.

Natural Stone And What To Expect

Every fixture is cut from natural travertine, so the pattern of pores and banding is different on each one. The photographs show representative pieces rather than the exact fixture you will receive. If you are ordering several for one room, expect them to be recognisably the same stone but not identical, which is normally the point of using stone in the first place.

Stone is also heavier and more brittle than metal. Handle the shade by the body rather than the rim during installation, and avoid overtightening any fixing that bears directly on the stone.

LED Output, Colour Temperature And Voltage

The light source is LED at an E27 base, running at 3000 kelvin. That is a warm white, on the yellower side of neutral, and it is the right choice for a stone shade: a cooler temperature would fight the warm cream tone of the travertine and make it look grey.

The specification gives the voltage range as 90 to 260 volts, so the fitting is designed to work on a United States 120 volt circuit without any adaptation. Control is by wall switch. The specification does not list the fixture as dimmable, so treat dimming as a change to the bulb and the circuit rather than a feature of the fitting. Stated weight is 3.5 pounds.
