Modern Wall Sconce with Overlapping Moon Discs and Gold Leaf

The fixture works by hiding its own light source. One disc sits proud of the other and the LED fires into the gap, so from anywhere in the room you see reflected light on the wall and on the gold inner face, never the diode itself. That is why it can be mounted at eye level beside a bed without being uncomfortable to look at, which very few wall lights of this brightness manage.

Setting the Phase of the Crescent

Both discs rotate, turning through 350 degrees and tilting through 80. Moving them changes how much of the rear disc is covered, and with it the shape of the lit crescent, from a thin sliver through to a nearly full circle of light.

That adjustment is also practical rather than purely decorative. Turning the opening downward makes the fixture a reading light beside a bed; turning it upward washes the ceiling and lifts a dark hallway. The same sconce does both jobs without being remounted, which is worth knowing before deciding on a mounting height, because the fixture is far more flexible than a fixed uplight would be.

Gold Leaf, Iron and the Colour of the Light

The inner face is finished in gold leaf, and this is doing real work rather than decoration. Light bouncing off a gold surface picks up warmth on the way out, so the halo on the wall reads amber even where the LED itself is a neutral white.

The discs are iron, electroplated and polished, which gives enough weight that the pivots hold their position once set. Finishes pair the outer disc in black, white or red against a gold or red inner face, and the difference between them is significant when the fixture is switched off. A black outer disc reads as a graphic circle on a pale wall, while white almost vanishes into it.

Output, Sizes and Installation

At 8W and 758 lumens the sconce covers roughly 54 to 108 square feet. That is enough to be the only light in a small hallway or to work as bedside lighting in place of a table lamp, freeing the surface underneath it entirely, which is often the point in a narrow room where a nightstand is already crowded.

Two diameters are offered at 7.87 and 9.84 inches, with warm white, cool white and a three mode option. It is hardwired and rated for indoor use only, so it is not a candidate for a porch or a covered outdoor wall. Assembly is required and it mounts to a standard wall box.
