Decorative exterior lighting usually means a lantern with a shape stamped into it. These work the other way round: the fixture is the shape, cast in aluminium, and the light escapes through slots set into the form rather than from a shade. Unlit they read as wall sculpture, which is most of the time, and that is the part that decides whether you want one.

Five Shapes and the Patterns They Cast

The starfish and the four-leaf clover throw light radially, so the wall picks up a set of rays spreading out from the centre. That is the most theatrical of the options and works best on a broad plain surface where the pattern has room to develop.

The seagull and the tapered bar are linear and throw a wide, low wash instead, closer to a conventional up and down sconce. The butterfly sits between the two. Where several are mounted along a wall, the overlapping patterns matter more than the individual fixture, so it is worth spacing them widely enough that each one keeps its own shape on the wall.

Sizes Vary With the Shape

These are not one product in five skins, and the dimensions differ significantly. The seagull is the longest at 14.96 inches wide by 3.54 inches high, and the tapered bar runs to 12.6 inches, so both need a reasonable span of wall to sit against.

The starfish is 7.87 inches square, the clover 6.1 inches and the butterfly 5.91 inches wide by 3.15 high. Those three are compact enough for a pier, a porch return or a run of repeated fixtures. Check the dimension images before committing to a position, because the visual weight varies a lot.

Finish, Weather Rating and Wiring

Finishes pair a body colour with a contrast: black gold, white gold and black white on the butterfly, plain black or white on the others. The gold linings catch daylight and give the shape some depth when the fixture is off, which the flat single colour versions do not. On a shaded wall the contrast lining is often the only thing that reads at all during the day.

All are aluminium with an IP65 rating, so they handle dust and driven rain on an exposed wall. Warm white at 3000K and cool white at 6000K are both offered, the LED is rated to 50,000 hours, and the fixture hardwires on 110 to 220 volts, which covers the 120 volt supply used here. Power draw runs from 5W to 24W depending on the shape and size chosen.
