Modern LED Wall Light Spiral Pattern Aluminum Body

Nearly every other light on this site is judged by the light it puts into a room. This one is judged by the pattern it puts on a surface. The body is a small punched cylinder, and the holes are arranged in a spiral. Light escapes through them and lands around the fitting as a swirl of dots and dashes. At 2.1 in across the hardware almost disappears. What you notice is the shape it draws.

The Pattern Is the Point

The holes are cut at an angle, so each one throws a stretched oval.

Together they read as a spiral turning away from the centre.

The pattern is largest and clearest on a plain pale surface.

Each hole is drilled at an angle through the wall of the cylinder.

That angle stretches the spot of light it throws into an oval.

The ovals sweep around the fitting and form the spiral you see.

Closer to the body the marks are small dots.

Further out they lengthen into dashes.

A plain pale surface shows the whole pattern clearly.

A dark or busy wall swallows most of it, so choose the spot carefully.

Fixed Colours or RGB

Seven versions have a single fixed colour, from warm white through to blue.

The RGB version ships with a remote and changes colour on demand.

Warm white and cold white are the two useful general options.

Yellow, red, pink, green and blue are effect colours rather than room lighting.

The RGB version ships with a handheld remote and switches between colours.

It costs a little more, which is the only difference in the fitting.

All eight versions use the same 3W body and the same pattern.

Wall or Ceiling

On a ceiling the spiral spreads outward in a full circle.

On a wall it does the same thing, but you see it from an angle.

Mounted on a ceiling the spiral opens out evenly in every direction.

Three or four in a line make a repeating pattern down a hallway ceiling.

On a wall you read the same spiral from one side, which is a different effect.

The fixture is only 2.1 in across, so it hides easily.

At 2.8 in deep it does project a little from the surface.

It is hardwired, so plan for a box behind it.

This is an accent fixture and will not light a room on its own.
