Most floor lamps light a circle of ceiling or a patch of wall. This one points its head wherever you want it. The gooseneck bends through a full circle and holds the shape you leave it in. Raise the pole when you are standing. Drop it when you are settled in a chair. The result is a pool of light on the page rather than a glow across the room.

How the Light Adjusts

Two things change on this lamp. Brightness runs from 10 to 100 percent with no fixed steps in between. Colour runs from a warm 2700K to a daylight 6500K across four settings. Warm light suits an evening on the sofa. Cool light suits paperwork and close hobby work. The head holds 120 LEDs and puts out 1800 lumens at full power. That is enough to read by without a second lamp in the room.

You can change either one from the pole or from your chair. Touch buttons sit on the front of the pole at hand height. The slim remote clips to the pole with a magnet, so it does not vanish down the side of the sofa. It works from up to 50 feet, which covers most rooms. A one hour timer switches the lamp off on its own if you fall asleep reading.

Where It Fits in a Room

The base measures 8.6 by 6.3 inches. That is small enough to slide behind a sofa arm or beside a bed. The lamp weighs 4.2 pounds and the base is solid metal with a non slip pad underneath. It stays put on carpet and on hard floors.

The pole slides between 56.7 and 67.5 inches tall. At its lowest the head sits level with a reading chair. At full height it clears the back of a sofa and a bed headboard. The lamp plugs into an ordinary wall socket and runs on 120 volts.

What Arrives and How It Goes Together

The lamp comes in four parts: the base, the lower pole, the upper pole with the gooseneck, and the power cable. The sections screw together by hand on a metal thread. No tools are needed and there is no wiring to do. Most people have it standing in a few minutes.

The LED is built in, so there is no bulb to buy and none to change later. It is rated for 50,000 hours of use. Six finishes are available: black, gold, grey, pink, white and ivory. Each one ships with a remote that matches the lamp.
